The Abandon Wars

Monday, July 10, 2006

Well, I completed my renaming binge and cleanup and also moved an awful lot of objects around - much more navigable now.

More importantly I finished amalgamating my Shape and Mesh objects and took all their little helper classes - like faces, trianlges and sphere - and moved them into their own files because they were really cluttering up the main files.

And with that I leave you with the title screen of the commodore version of Space Crusade; mostly to remind me that I should be working towards it! (ie: not faffing with shape libraries)

Later!

  • Yes!!!!! The game is all that's important!

Do you need any of the code that I have lying around btw? :)

  • He's cleaning up.. And you want him to go and mess it up with your code? :p

  • Hehe! But Justin I already have some of your code... all the file handling stuff still says copyright FreY interactive...

Although if you still have your wire frame text definition that would be cool... Along with any intersection routines.

Later I may need to bug you for vertex and/or pixel shaders. I'm just to lazy to learn out how to write my own.

  • But I thought you'd loooooove shaders, you're Mr. Low-Level after all aren't you?
    fabs optimisation, anyone? :p

  • Anyone played Dawn of War? It is an RTS set in the Warhammer 40000 universe. Came out in 2004. I've been playing the demo a little and it's actually kinda fun.

Anyway the reason I downloaded the demo was to check out the character models. I'm in the mood to do some modeling and I thought I might do a space marine or two.

Keep on rolling, Andrew. This sounds like it could be a fun project. :)

  • Hey! That fabs optimisation won us 3 seconds of extra processor time! Don't knock the fabs optimisation... plus it got me a Noddy badge ;)

Mmmm space marine models... If you model me a couple or five or so that would be great. I'm going to blog mine so far just so you feel sorry for me ;)

  • Idd oon efo ryou, but I'd have to model it in Maya and I know how much you lurve Max so I wouldn't want to do that to you.

Unless of course you use the Ogre3D XML exporter and make an XML parser (I recommend TinyXML) to get at the data ;)
